One-Third of the rap group Migos is now dead after a shooting at a Houston, Texas bowling alley. The chart-topping group is known for several hits including Walk It, Talk It, Motorsport, and Versace.

According to TMZ, the fatal shooting happened around 2:30 AM. Witnesses say Takeoff and the second Migos member Quavo were playing dice. During the game, an argument broke out and someone suddenly fired shots. Takeoff was later pronounced dead on the scene. So far reports of an arrest have not been made. Takeoff whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball was 28 years old.

Following his death, many celebrities and fans took to social media to share their love for the rapper who was known for being a man of few words when not on a song.

One fan tweeted of their disbelief of how the rapper was quiet and bothered no one but was still murdered.

Close friend, rapper and producer Rich the Kid shared a photo of the two and a message on Instagram.

Frustrations also poured in about what seems to be a recent deadly trend in hip hop. Rapper Ja rule tweeted early Tuesday saying this needs to stop. Other figures in the hip hop community also voiced frustrations over the insensitivity of posting the artist’s dying body on social media.

Activists Jemele Hill also tweeted saying RIP to the late rapper. She also compared the frequent death of so many hip hop artists to the death of late rappers Biggie and Tupac. The frustration comes as Takeoff is added to a list of Hip Hop artists murdered in previous years, including Nipsey Hussle, PopSmoke, and Young Dolph. Many in the hip hop community are calling it an attack on hip hop culture. Studies are also showing the tragic ending that is likely to come with being a hip hop artist. A 2015 study posted by, “The Conversation”, shows jazz and blues singers have the longest life span. R&B artists have the second longest life expectancy. Hip hop artists fall last on the list with at least half dying from homicide and most under the age of 30.

Earlier this year, legendary rapper and now entrepreneur, Master P, gave this advice to surviving in the hip hop game. While speaking to iHeart, said artists are dying frequently and so young because of the people around them. He advises making sure your closest circle has the right leadership. Make sure they are held accountable and hold you accountable.
