Across NYC, the lax on crime movement has been in full swing.

In the Bronx, a man who strangled his stepson to death was released, free without bail.  That was it. The kid was just 15 years old when he passed. He was choked because his son apparently showed weakness after telling his stepdad that he was bullied that day in school. Ultimately, he would have to go back to face a light negligible homicide charge.

Two days later, however, after the right leaning newspaper NY Post made a stink, the man was back in police custody. Governor Kathy Hochul proudly announced that the man was back in custody saying that “safety was her top priority”. Tell it to the judge.

Adding insult to injury Tyresse Minter, the strangler, was arrested on an attempted murder charge in 2018. It got knocked down to a simple assault case, and the guy was out a handful of months later.

And Minter was even on parole when he was charged for his second offense, or, let’s put it bluntly, murder.

The judge proved to be so lenient that the prosecutor and even defense attorney’s request were ignored. Even Minter’s own attorney asked for a $10,000 bail.

In terms of a actually implementing a fair charge, Governor Hochul shrugged off the whole thing in politicalese saying, ““We will continue working closely with the Bronx District Attorney’s Office throughout this process as it prosecutes the charges, and we will continue coordinating with our partners in law enforcement to strengthen public safety across the state.”

Hochul had been involved in efforts to give more power to judges. Looks like it’s going swimmingly.
