President Donald Trump’s primary source of communication is no longer available for him. Twitter permanently, yes, permanently suspended his account on Friday, saying after an evaluation of all his tweets over the years, his rhetoric was too dangerous for him to allow to continue.
If you’re wondering if Trump had a reaction to his tweet ban, well, yes he did. He had to go old school and release a statement, and he ripped into Twitter not that he’s not restrained, saying the big tech company does not allow free speech. He also hinted at a “big announcement” that he would be making soon, possibly regarding a separate platform he might be involved in building.
“As I have been saying for a long time, Twitter has gone further and further in banning free speech, and tonight, Twitter employees have coordinated with the Democrats and the Radical Left in removing my account from their platform, to silence me—and YOU, the 75,000,000 great patriots who voted for me,” Trump said in the statement he released.
“I predicted this would happen. We have been negotiating with various other sites, and will have a big announcement soon, while we also look at the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future. We will not be SILENCED!” he said.
“Twitter is not about FREE SPEECH. They are all about promoting a Radical Left platform where some of the most vicious people in the world are allowed to speak freely,” Trump continued, saying “STAY TUNED!”
Twitter had initially temporarily suspended Trump’s Twitter account on Wednesday, and then allowed him to tweet away on Thursday. He sent out two messages, the final one being an announcement that he would not attend the inauguration. And that was it, his final tweet as president.
Twitter said the last two posts had violated its “glorification of Violence policy, which is in place according to them to “prevent the glorification of violence that could inspire others to replicate violent acts.”
It’s safe to say it would be impossible to silence President Trump forever. He’ll be back, in some form, and his fans and most arduous detractors will be hanging on every word.
