Come and get your COVID-19 vaccine. Whoa, New York, not so fast.

This is the scene President Donald Trump is setting for when the vaccine is available, shifting the onus onto New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo because “he doesn’t trust where the vaccine is coming from.”

In his first public comments since Nov. 4, Trump said Friday, “These (vaccines) are coming from the greatest companies anywhere in the world, greatest labs in the world, but he doesn’t trust the fact that it’s this White House, this administration. So we won’t be delivering it to New York until we have authorization to do so, and that pains me to say that.”

Cuomo then told CNBC, “None of what he said is true. Surprise, surprise,” noting Trump’s large defeat deficit in New York and state tax fraud investigation.

“I’m not going to let a bully push New Yorkers around, period,” Cuomo said on CNN.

New York Attorney General Letitia James issued a statement that threatens to sue Trump if the vaccine is withheld from her state of 19.5 million people.

“This is nothing more than vindictive behavior by a lame-duck president trying to extract vengeance on those who oppose his politics,” James said.

At a time when accusations were levied that a vaccine might be rushed for election purposes, Cuomo stipulated in September that New York would form a task force to review federal COVID-19 vaccine data. California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington formed a similar review group.

Trump promised that “it’ll be a matter of weeks” before the vaccine is distributed to frontline workers, senior citizens and high-risk Americans. Pfizer is awaiting its third phase of data.

But it is a matter of two months that Trump will still be president. If it wasn’t for a pandemic, these two Queensers could just hash this out in Astoria.
