Elon Musk has his hand in various businesses in multiple sectors. Like Bruce Wayne, he is a Billionaire that enjoys exciting ventures. When Greek physician Hippocrates, “The Father of Western Medicine”, said “Look well to the spine for the cause of disease,” he would not understand how spot on this statement would be, two thousand years later.

Spinal injuries can have tragic outcomes. Nerve damage and other various debilitating conditions are serious issues that Musk aims to solve. How? By implanting thousands of electrodes thinner than a fiber of hair into the meninges of the Cerebrum. In other words, specifically placing metal strands into the outer surface of the brain.

The company is planning on starting with patients who have failed all other methods of care, or who are debilitated beyond normal measures.

“Our goal will be to turn the lights on for someone who’s spent decades living in the dark,” said Neuralink researcher Dan Adams.

What is one of their top goals? To make Quadriplegics walk again.

Your brainstem carries electrical signals from your brain to your body, and your body to your brain. It descends through the top bone in your neck, Cervical 1 – the Atlas vertebra bone. In Greek Mythology, Atlas was a Titan that held up the world. In your NeuroSkeletal system, Atlas holds up your head.

Neuralink.com explains:

When small currents are delivered through an electrode, the changing electric field drives nearby neurons to fire one or more action potentials.

Stimulation can reduce or eliminate the pathological patterns of activity that occur in neurological disorders, such as reducing movement deficits in Parkinson’s disease.

The future is bright and soon science fiction, may become science reality.
