Holiday travel is returning to pre-Covid times. The urge to travel more this holiday season is making retailers nervous. As the retail industry works to get consumers in the door, the travel industry focuses on being able to handle the demand. According to CNBC, airline tickets are up more than 56% compared to last year. Mastercard numbers show lodging sales are up by more than 38% from last year. Airbnb reports a net income of $1.2 billion for quarter three.

About 47% of people will travel for the holidays. If you’re still deciding where to go, Travel & Leisure has compiled a list of the best places this year. Here are a few locations from the list.

The first destination is probably apparent. New York, New York, makes the cut for a perfect holiday destination. The famous holiday traditions like the Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes make the city the place to be. The city’s holiday decor also makes for some good family photos.

If you want to travel and enjoy family time, consider the nation’s capital. Besides quality time, the best thing about the holiday with the family in D.C. is that many activities are free. If you’ve never been to D.C., a few places to visit are the Smithsonian museums, the National Zoo, and the National Mall.

Maybe you don’t want to freeze in cold weather this year. A warmer, more popular destination for the holidays is Saint Lucia. November and December are both popular months to visit. Kayak.com advises booking this trip at least two weeks before the date of your trip.
Santa Fe, New Mexico, is a great place to go year-round. In December, the city hosts several holiday events. Travel& Leisure recommends booking a place to stay at the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe or La Fonda on the Plaza.

Last, if you want a different experience this year, book a flight to Finland. The famous place to stay in Finland is a glass igloo. Several hotels offer popular accommodation. Mix a glass igloo with a view of the northern lights and snow; it could be the makings of a perfect peaceful holiday trip.
