Over the years, we have become accustomed to seeing Tiger Woods make some incredible shots. There have been plenty of eagles, birdies and pars over his career, but not many double digits have hit the scorecard. This weekend one did, a 10 on the par-3 12th hole at Augusta National on the final day of the Masters. Yes, for one hole at least, Tiger played golf like the majority of us would.
Sitting at 3 under par before his tee shot at the 12th, Tiger was hoping to make a surge through the final seven holes. Instead, he made a splash, and then another splash, and eventually another splash.
Tiger’s first tee shot in the 12th hole went into the water. His second shot went into the water. His third shot stayed dry but flew the green, and then on his punch out, his ball once again found the H2O. Tiger’s ball did eventually find the hole, as the defending Masters champion carded a 10. In that one hole, Tiger dropped from 3 under par to 4 over par.
So just how rare was the double-digit score for Tiger? Well, it was the worst he has ever had on any hole playing in the Masters. It was also Woods’ first 10 on the PGA Tour in 23,789 holes.

While most of us would have continued the double or triple bogey barrage after something like that, Tiger went back to being one of the best golfers in the world by birding five of his final six holes. Tiger finished the tournament at 1 under par, 19 strokes behind winner Dustin Johnson.
Johnson’s reign as Masters champion will not be for long though, as the next Masters is just five short months away.
