Former President Donald Trump sat down for an exclusive interview with former Fox News host Megyn Kelly – a first since their memorable and controversial encounter a few years back.

The stage was set for what was expected, a challenging interview taped this week at Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey home. Their controversial history was mentioned briefly before the duo dove into substantive conversation.

“That was a bad question,” Trump said in the interview.

“That was a great question,” Kelly responded.

“No, it was a nasty question,” he said.

“It was awesome,” Kelly said before quickly pivoting to tell him, “You handled it well. Your poll numbers went up. Let’s move past that.”

Kelly then challenged Trump on several talking points including questions concerning the removal of COVID-era medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, the end of birthright citizenship not going through under his leadership, and more.

Kelly made a point to say the goal of the interview was not to emerge with Trump’s jugular.

“I give him a ton of credit,” she said. “You tell me. Could Joe Biden have done that? Could Joe Biden have done five minutes of that, just five minutes?”

After departing from Fox News, Kelly went on to work at NBC News, negotiating a “divorce agreement in January 2019” in the second year of a three-year contract. The successful journalist later pivoted her career towards the podcast world, hosting The Megyn Kelly show which was picked up as a two-hour weekday show on SiriusXM satellite radio.

“All that nonsense between us,” Kelly said referencing her relationship with Trump this past summer, “is under the bridge.”
