The legend of Kobe Bryant will live forever. This means anything he touched, owned, or influenced has value, including a jersey he wore for 25+ games 15 years ago that he achieved some epic accomplishments in while wearing. If you want it, you better be rich or have access to a large loan. Just saying.

The five-time NBA champ rocked this jersey during Game 2 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs in 2008 — when he nailed a 3-point bomb and roared in excitement as he grabbed the jersey. It gave the Lakers a 14-point lead against the Nuggets at the time.

The picture of Kobe after the bucket is world famous, which Sotheby’s auction house calls “perhaps the most iconic images of Kobe ever taken.”

That’s saying a lot —so the price will be pretty high, you’d think, and you would be thinking correctly.  It could get $7 million.

Here’s a quote from Sotheby’s in a press release.

“This jersey has influenced popular culture in a way that is seldom seen in the sports community, becoming iconic and synonymous with the image of Kobe Bryant.”

Another thing that makes this #24 jersey the Mamba wore is that Kobe autographed it.  That’s what could fetch the record price for the highest-priced piece of Kobe memorabilia. The current record is a jersey sold in 2021 that he wore from 1996-97.  That sold for $3.7 million.

Here’s more from Sotheby’s.

“It’s rare that an athlete can move past the bounds of their sport, but Kobe Bryant is certainly one of the special few who has left an everlasting impact on the world.”

The auction is set for Feb. 2 – Feb. 9.
