The lack of a viable third-party presidential candidate was considered a factor in election results Tuesday night. So, in his own way, Kanye West was a factor because he was a non-factor. There will be no President Yeezy. But you knew that.
The rapper/entrepreneur/Kardashian hubby entered the presidential election on July 4 as an extreme long shot, especially when he was only able to get on the election ballot in 12 states. Preliminary Associated Press results showed he had more than 1,000 votes in each state, pulling more than 10,000 votes in Tennessee.
Variety estimated that he received 60,000 total votes, including write-in choices in states where he was not on the ballot. It was not a total that could have been a factor in any state if he hadn’t entered. By comparison, Libertarian Party candidate Jo Jorgensen received more than 1.5 million votes.
“WELP,” West tweeted. “KANYE 2024.”
The 43-year-old West, who listed a Birthday Party affiliation with the Federal Election Commission, later deleted that tweet and dropped the “WELP” in another tweet that just read, “KANYE 2024.”
Earlier, West shared on Twitter and Instagram that he was voting in a presidential election for the first time “and it’s for someone I truly trust … me.” His series of posts showed that he wrote in his name on his ballot in Wyoming.
A news station in Mississippi posted election results for the four leading vote-getters: Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Jorgensen and West. The top three had photos while West had the silhouette, as if he was an egg on a Twitter profile. Think they did that for the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West wedding news story too?
