Most of us have found themselves at the mercy of renovation crews – be they painters, upholsterers or general contractors of various sorts.

It’s not ideal, but when you can’t solicit an answer for the most important question – when will it be finished? — well, things can get frustrating.

And that’s where Vice President Kamala Harris finds herself this morning.

Harris, who took her oath of office in January as the first female, first Black, and first Asian American vice president in US history, has been staying with her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, at the Blair House during renovations on what will be her primary residence.

The Blair House is some fine lodging, to be clear, but it’s also where guests of the White House stay.

In a CNN story, an administration official described it as “unclear” as to why the renovations are taking longer than expected.

Haris is not trying to hide her disappointment.

“She is getting frustrated,” another official said.

Hey, it’s been two months. Come on.

Harris and her husband likely look at their future home — Number One Observatory Circle on the grounds of the US Naval Observatory — and sigh.

It’s a first-world problem, of course, and Harris did not respond to the CNN report regarding the matter.

According to CNN, the 128-year-old residence needed, among other specifics, a $3.8 million contract for “plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors” still in progress, according to an official U.S. government spending report.

President Biden, vice president from 2009-17, praised the residence’s amenities on CNN last month.

“You’re … overlooking the rest of the city,” he said. “You can walk out, and there’s a swimming pool. You can ride a bicycle around and never leave the property, and work out.”
