Tom Cruise’s recent diatribe about film-crew members violating coronavirus protocols continues to draw attention: good, bad or a stunt from “an abusive person”?

George Clooney praised the 58-year-old Hollywood icon for the leaked audio that revealed Cruise ripping his crew on the set of “Mission: Impossible 7.”

“Well, he didn’t overreact, because it is a problem,” Clooney said in an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” indicating that everyone needs constant reminders.

However, Leah Remini criticized Cruise, claiming his outburst was a “publicity stunt.”

“Tom’s reaction … shows his true personality,” Remini wrote in a statement published on the anti-Scientology blog The Underground Bunker. “He is an abusive person. I witnessed it, I’ve been a recipient of it on a small level, and I’ve been told of similar abuse by his former girlfriend, his employees, and his friends. This is the real Tom.”

Remini, 50, is a former Scientologist who has made it a mission, in part via her A&E documentary on Scientology, to discredit the organization, to which Cruise belongs.

Best known for her work on the TV series “The King of Queens,” Remini said people don’t need Cruise’s oversight, given everyone working in Hollywood now takes their cues from “COVID officers assigned to the movie” for safety guidelines.

“I would bet that Tom had this rant written for him and had his Scientology assistant record and release it. … This psychotic rant only proves what many who know Tom or have worked for Tom know: He is an abusive dictator just as he was taught by his guru, (Scientology leader) David Miscavige.”

In a statement to The Wrap and Yahoo Entertainment, the Church of Scientology said the organization “has done more than any other religious institution in promoting COVID-19 prevention actions – throughout the U.S. and worldwide.”
