United States District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan rejected former President Donald Trump’s request to postpone his federal trial, setting the trial date for March 4, 2024. Judge Chutkan denied the defense’s request to push the trial back to April 2026 – after the presidential election.

“The public has a right to a prompt and efficient resolution of this matter,” Judge Chutkan said. Trump was charged with his fourth indictment earlier this month, accusing the former president of “orchestrating a massive criminal enterprise to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.”

But, despite the charges, Trump remains the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, all while posing for his mugshot last weekend – the first in American history for a former president. In just three days after the arrest, the Trump campaign brought in more than $7 million, most of it from merchandise sold brandishing the now infamous mugshot. Confirmed by Steven Cheung, Trump’s spokesperson, fundraising for Trump’s campaign raised nearly $20 million in three weeks since his first indictment in April.
