A US federal judge on Thursday refused to dismiss a defamation lawsuit filed by Elon Musk’s X against Media Matters for America, allowing the case to proceed to trial in April 2025. X accuses Media Matters of deliberately fabricating images to show advertisers’ content next to white nationalist and neo-Nazi posts, causing companies like Apple, Disney, and IBM to pull their ads from the platform. Media Matters has called the lawsuit frivolous and denies any wrongdoing.

Separately, Musk has escalated his feud with Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes, calling him an “evil dictator” after the judge ordered X to name a legal representative in Brazil or face a ban. The disagreement centers around de Moraes’ demands for X to censor political opponents, which Musk claims would violate Brazil’s laws.

Starlink, another Musk-owned company, also faces financial restrictions in Brazil due to de Moraes’ orders.
