Jon Stewart has been laying low the past few years, hiding so far under the radar screen that he didn’t even have an account on Twitter. Until now. And guess what inspired the former host of the Daily Show to start tweeting? He had to jump on board to defend the Reddit traders who crashed the Wall Street party this week, wreaking havoc with multiple stock prices and bringing chaos into the world of hedge funds and established investors. “This is bullsh-t. The Redditors aren’t cheating, they’re joining a party Wall Street insiders have been enjoying for years,” Stewart tweeted.

“Don’t shut them down…maybe sue them for copyright infringement instead!! We’ve learned nothing from 2008.”

Stewart’s twitter account is @jon_actual, and it took no time for it to be verified and earn the coveted blue check.

How active is Stewart going to be on Twitter? Who knows, although he did give his fans and followers a sneak peak of his intentions. “I promise to only use this app in a sporadic and ineffective manner,” he jokingly said.

By the way, in Stewart’s brief time on the platform, he has over 472,000 followers and is following noone.
