Jeffrey Toobin has done a lot of fine things in his career as a legal analyst and writer, but one ill-timed mistake on a Zoom call is going to be part of his legacy forever. He’s out at CNN after contributing his expertise on legal matters and court cases for 20 years.  Previously, he was a writer at the New Yorker, where he remained for almost 30 years.

Toobin received a ton of notoriety and fame for covering the OJ Simpson saga and trial.

But he because infamous and the butt of many jokes in the fall of 2020 after admitting to exposing himself and masturbating during a video call with staffers from the New Yorker.

The New Yorker sent him packing after that embarrassing gaffe, but CNN took him back after a short leave of absence.

Here’s part of a statement from Toobin as he made his departure from CNN known.

”I wanted to let you know that after twenty years I’ve decided to leave CNN after my vacation. It was great to spend my last day on air, like so many before, with my pals at Sit Room, AC360, and Don Lemon Tonight. It’s been a privilege (and fun) being your colleague. The work of CNN is enormously important, and I know you’ll continue doing it with the same passion and intelligence as always.”

Toobin revealed that for his next act, he is working on a book about the Oklahoma City bombing, which is set to come out in 2023.
