Joe Biden’s drive-in campaign rallies definitely have the feel of a scene straight out of a Disney “Cars” movie. “Socially distanced” vehicles are lined up in front of the candidate, who is speaking about his platform with horns honking in support and opposition. It’s a little strange, and it has basically evolved into a battle of the horns.

Increasingly, Donald Trump supporters have been showing up at the drive-in rallies and honking their horns as Biden gives his speech. On Friday, at a Biden drive-in rally in St. Paul, Minnesota, the “ugly folks,” as Biden referred to them, were back.

As Biden was addressing the dozen or so vehicles of supporters at the small rally, a group of rowdy Trump supporters showed up and began honking their horns and blasting sirens in an effort to get under Biden’s skin. It worked.

The visibly frustrated Biden began the speech by saying, “These guys are not very polite, but they’re like Trump.” As the honking and noise continued, Biden grew more frustrated, and while talking about wearing masks, he said, “This isn’t a political statement like those ugly folks over there, beeping the horns. This is a patriotic duty, for God’s sake.”

Later in the speech, as he was addressing Trump’s tax cuts, he gave the group another nod: “Ninety-one out of the Fortune 500 companies paid zero in taxes last year. Why? Why should a firefighter, an educator, and that guy blowing that horn, why should he pay?” Biden asked.

At the end of the speech it was the Biden supporters who were back to honking their horns in support of the Democratic nominee. With all the honking, Joe Biden has to wonder at times if he is running for President of the United States or Mayor of Radiator Springs.
