Has Chick-fil-A boarded the ‘woke’ train with its recently published Diversity and Inclusion (DEI) statement?

Conservative influencers took to their Instagram and Twitter platforms to question the long-led Christian-valued corporation after their new “Better at Together” campaign was perceived to be going against the very values that have made them successful for so many years.

Chick-fil-A’s corporate purpose is stated as an effort “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.”

However, according to Chick-fil-A, Inc.’s embedment of “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion” under their “Better at Together” campaign, they state their aim to “promote equal opportunity through our processes and practices…seek to understand and honor our unique experiences and perspectives…” and “inspire a community by meeting people where they are.”

Eric Reynolds, a Chick-fil-A employee since 2007, was appointed as Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion back in 2020, according to multiple sources. The page quotes McReynolds, who said he is “committed to ensuring mutual respect, understanding, and dignity everywhere we do business. These tenets are good business practice and crucial to fulfilling our Corporate Purpose.”

The website however, refrains from mentioning supporting any LGBTQ+ communities during their self-proclaimed “PRIDE” month in June, however, in 2019 the company decided to halt their donations to Christian-principled charity organizations after backlash from the same community. These charities included Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Salvation Army and the Paul Anderson Youth Home

As Alexander Hamilton once said, “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything.” Time will only tell how the highly favored food store chain will proceed with this campaign. Hopefully, Chick-fil-A continues in delivering excellent service to all its customers while standing true to their fundamental values and morals.
