It’s been a good past few days for a couple of high-profile criminals who got out of prison this week.

Remember the Fyre Festival? If not, a couple of fantastic documentaries do an excellent job of showcasing the epic disaster.  It was supposed to be a VIP, extravagant music festival on a private island that Pablo Escobar allegedly used to own.  The mastermind behind it was Billy McFarland.  The event was a mirage, not even remotely close to being what hundreds of people paid for. The feds looked at it as a scam, and McFarland pled guilty to 2 counts of wire fraud and was sentenced to six years in prison.

McFarland was actually out of prison on March 30th and had been serving time at a halfway house or his home and is expected to do that until the end of August.

Martin Shkreli, aka “Pharma Bro,” was also sprung from prison and transferred to a halfway house. He was famous for buying a lifesaving AIDS drug, then jacking up the price by 5,000%. His prison career appears to be over, but so is his pharmaceutical career; he’s been banned from working in the industry.

He’s still a cocky wise guy judging from a tweet he sent out Wednesday.

“Getting out of real prison is easier than getting out of  Twitter prison.”

He was referring to his ban from Twitter.  In 2017, he was a world-class digital troll and harassed a female journalist online and got the boot.

He was supposed to serve seven years when he was sentenced in 2018 but got out early for good behavior and for completing rehab programs.
