Maxwell’s official sentence will be determined in court on June 28.

Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in July of 2020 and charged with the involvement in ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of teenage girls, some being as young as 14.

Ghislaine Maxwell believes that she deserves a lighter prison sentence after being found guilty on five of the six charges she faced. She was convicted for the sex trafficking of minors, which has a maximum sentence of 40 years.

“Epstein was the mastermind, Epstein was the principal abuser, and Epstein orchestrated the crimes for his personal gratification. Ghislaine Maxwell is not an heiress, villain, or vapid socialite. She has worked hard her entire life. She has energy, drive, commitment, a strong work ethic, and desire to do good in the world,” her lawyers wrote.

Her legal team believes that Maxwell herself was a victim of Epstein’s abuse and grooming. They say that she was “vulnerable to Epstein, whom she met right after her father’s death.

“She had a difficult, traumatic childhood with an overbearing, narcissistic, and demanding father,” her lawyers wrote on Wednesday evening to the Manhattan federal judge.

“It is the biggest mistake she made in her life and one that she has not and never will repeat.”

Her lawyers also argue that Maxwell should receive a lenient sentence after her “perilous conditions” in jail.

“One of the female inmates in Ms. Maxwell’s housing unit told at least three other inmates that she had been offered money to murder Ms. Maxwell and that she planned to strangle her in her sleep,” her legal team claims.

Earlier in the year, Ghislaine also complained about her living conditions in prison.

“I have been assaulted and abused for almost a year and a half,” she said. “I have not had a nutritious meal in all that time. I haven’t slept without lights on – fluorescent lights that have damaged my eyes – or been allowed to sleep without constant interruptions.”

“I am weak, I am frail. I have no stamina. I am tired. I don’t even have shoes which fit properly They feed me rotten food. One apple had maggots in it. I have not been allowed to exercise.”

“The salads are wilted with mold… they gave me a black soggy banana. There was bread so wet, water came out when you squeezed it. I’ve been given food so over-nuked it looked like Chernobyl after the nuclear fallout.”

‘I used to take a shower every day but I’ve stopped because of the creepy guards who stand close and stare at me the whole time.

What do you think? Should Ghislaine Maxwell receive a more lenient sentence?

  • I would like to offer genuine, heart felt perspective. I have been in a similar situation, a man I had deep respect for and love for asked me to help him gain 5 wives. Because my dad had left when I was young, I feel right into that trap of needing approval and then that’s when I was started to being manipulated. He played on my need for love thinking u could not satisfy him because of his erectile dysfunction. And then me believing u was less of a woman and these majestic 14 years old would give him something I couldn’t. And then I think about how I got blamed for everything trying to help him and then was shunted off to a mental institution whilst he lived with my parents.
