Gavin Newsom Challenges Ron DeSantis To A Debate On CNN: “Name The Time Before Election Day”

Democratic Governor of California Gavin Newsom has challenged the Republican governor of Florida, Ron Desantis, to a debate next month.

“Hey @GovRonDeSantis,” wrote Newsom on Friday afternoon on Twitter, “clearly you’re struggling, distracted, and busy playing politics with people’s lives. Since you have only one overriding need — attention — let’s take this up & debate.”

Jokes are funny. Economic turmoil is not.

People are barely making ends meet, most are in debt, living paycheck to paycheck, and our politicians are cracking jokes.

The California governor responded to DeSantis’ “hair gel” joke about him earlier in the day — “I think his hair gel is interfering with his brain function” — with “I’ll bring my hair gel. You bring your hairspray. Name the time before Election Day.”

Politicians these days… The banter is comical isn’t it? Oh, so hilarious.

Newsom’s challenge is the latest he has lobbed DeSantis’ way, including on Thursday asking the Justice Department to investigate DeSantis’ decision to use interest earned from federal money to fly 50 Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard.

Newsom also tagged @CNN, apparently as a proposed host for the debate.

The California governor’s tweet today was, it seems, prompted in part by a three-week-old suggestion from newsman Dan Rather to new CNN boss Chris Licht, which Newsom retweeted.

“Here’s an idea for Chris Licht, the new head of @CNN,” wrote Rather Set up a debate — one-on-one — between @GavinNewsom and @RonDeSantisFL. Two governors of big states, potential presidential candidates. Prime time. Ratings I bet would be huge. Who would have the courage to show up?”

When Newsom was asked about debating DeSantis for California’s top job, Sen. Brian Dahle, responded, “We’ll debate him. I’ll leave it at that.”

Soon after, Dahle’s campaign said the two are slated to meet in late October, either the 23rd or the 25th.

The recent pandemic created a global economic disaster and now politicians are scrambling to prove their legitimacy.

The same ones who create the very problems we are now facing are telling us they’re going to fix them. Who do they think they’re fooling?

Does anyone actually trust these people? They aren’t politicians. They’re actors.

The government is so deeply corrupt. There is no single person with the power to create any evident changes. It’s all intertwined.

The backbone of our country is not its citizens, but the corporations, banks, and lobbyists that own and control almost every institution in our nation.

Good luck voting them out.
