The future leader of the free world broke his foot playing with his dog. He sometimes wears two masks at a time, is now sporting a walking boot, hobbles around with a limp and just turned 78 years old. It makes you wonder how Joe Biden is going to hold up when he actually has the job of president and has to face big-boy problems all over the world.
Biden appeared excited to show reporters he could still get around without a wheelchair as he arrived at The Queen theater in Wilmington, Delaware, to introduce his economic team. When asked by reporters how he was feeling, he responded “good” and raised up his foot to show off the boot he has to wear after suffering a fractured foot playing with his German shepherd on Saturday.
Biden arrived walking slowly and without much of a limp, spoke for 15 minutes, then had a very visible limp as he sat down after introducing his choice for Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen.
During the campaign, Biden tried to downplay the issue of his age when asked about it. The doctor’s report he released in December notes that Biden takes a statin for his cholesterol level. His doctor was quoted as calling him “healthy, vigorous, and fit to successful execute the duties of the Presidency.”
Dr. Kevin O’Connor said Biden will have to wear the walking boot for several weeks as the small hairline fractures heal.
Unfortunately for the President-elect, he has another German shepherd named Champ, and he and First Lady-to-be Jill Biden said they are making the executive decision of acquiring a cat as well, which means the real possibility of further pet-related injuries is always there.
