Linda Sun, a former aide to New York Governors Kathy Hochul and Andrew Cuomo, was arrested by the FBI on federal charges including visa fraud, money laundering conspiracy, and failure to register as a foreign agent. She and her husband, Christopher Hu, were taken into custody at their Long Island home, which had previously been searched by the FBI in July.

The indictment alleges that Sun acted on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party, attempting to block Taiwanese officials from accessing New York State officers and facilitating meetings with representatives from the People’s Republic of China. Sun worked in various state government roles for nearly 15 years and was terminated from her position in the New York Department of Labor in March 2023 due to misconduct.

Both Sun and Hu are expected to appear in federal court, but details of their charges remain sealed. The arrests are part of a broader corruption investigation, though authorities have indicated it is unrelated to Sun’s work for Gov. Hochul.
