A series of explosions targeting Hezbollah’s communication devices has rocked Lebanon, with the initial blasts occurring on Tuesday and subsequent detonations the next day during a funeral for the initial victims. The first explosion emanated from rigged pagers and resulted in at least 12 deaths and nearly 3,000 injuries, widely attributed to Israeli intelligence. The following day, walkie-talkies detonated across multiple locations, further heightening tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.

Security sources revealed that both the pagers and walkie-talkies were booby-trapped prior to their distribution to Hezbollah.

Hezbollah has threatened retaliation, while Israel has not officially claimed responsibility. The incidents are seen as part of a sophisticated and ongoing Israeli operation against the Iranian-backed group.

Hezbollah has vowed a ‘uniquely bloody revenge’ and plans further actions in support of Gaza. Iran has condemned the incidents as ‘mass murder’ and accused Israel of terrorism, with Iranian officials including the ambassador to Lebanon among the wounded. The international community remains on high alert as tensions escalate, with concerns of a broader conflict.
