Tom Cruise has been alternately naughty and nice, it seems, during his work on “Mission: Impossible 7” this winter – but in the wake of his recent on-set COVID-19 outburst, at least there is some “nice” to be found.
Evidence of Cruise being less than grinchy came via social media when crew members thanked Cruise and “Mission” newcomer Pom Klementieff (from “Guardians of the Galaxy” fame) for gifts received during production.
The gifts appear to have been sent and received before the Dec. 15 outburst, so it’s not necessarily a makeup move.
Speaking of makeup, one recipient, makeup artist Charlie Hounslow, was treated to Moët & Chandon champagne and a socially distanced catered holiday dinner – as posted Dec. 10 on Instagram.
As for the rant?
“They believe it had a lot to do with his ego. Good intentions aside, he didn’t need to rant and rave the way he did,” a source told Us Weekly, noting that the crew has been “walking on eggshells” ever since.
He threatened workers who were not following COVID-19 protocols, yelling, “We are not shutting this f–king movie down. Is it understood? If I see it again, you’re f–king gone.”
Cruise showed his initial generosity – and his drive to complete this project – by reportedly spending $665,000 of his own money on cruise ships to house crew members during the shoot.
According to The Sun, production shut down recently, with Cruise headed to Miami to spend the holidays with his son, Connor, whom he adopted with Nicole Kidman.
An unnamed source who spoke with the publication said it’s “been exhausting keeping the production on track for so long, and it’s not getting any easier.”
“Mission: Impossible 7” is expected to come out on Nov. 19, 2021, and “Mission: Impossible 8” is set for release on Nov. 4, 2022.
