Mistakes happen. When they happen to America’s top model, Tyra Banks, on live TV, during an elimination — let’s just say the crowd can get ugly. Such was the case Monday night when ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” took another tango on television sets. Sixty-second celebrity dances were stretched into a two-hour show, all leading up to the suspense-building, paso doble–producing elimination, when the audience finally learned which couple would waltz off into ballroom oblivion.

It was in those final moments when Banks incorrectly announced that “Cheer” coach Monica Aldama and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy were safe — when in reality, they were in the bottom two. How could this happen? According to Banks, it was the control room’s fault. Ultimately, the former “America’s Next Top Model” host apologized for the confusion and doubled down with her apology on social media after the show.

“Wowsers. Live TV. Wrong name on cards. So challenging to deal with moments like these. But we power through,” she tweeted. To which one fan of the show responded:

“Yes, we do power through … we power through every terrible week of missing Tom Bergeron & Erin Andrews,” in an homage to the former hosts of the show who were fired before the start of this season.

While Aldama and Chmerkovskiy were ultimately saved from the judges, people are now calling for the elimination of Banks altogether. Dance moms everywhere are critiquing Banks on everything from her bad call to her bad wardrobe choices (and keep in mind, this is a show that has a proud history of questionable wardrobe decisions).

Will ratings dip? Will Banks be put in a corner with no Patrick Swayze to save her? For that, we will have to ask the executive producer of the show. Her name is Tyra Banks.
