A majority of swing state voters are turning against President Joe Biden’s economic agenda in favor of returning former President Donald Trump to office, according to a new poll from Bloomberg News. The survey—one of the few to pull data from multiple swing states at once—indicates that “Bidenomics” has been a disaster for the economy, putting Biden well behind Trump on the most important issue for voters.

The poll conducted by Morning Consult on behalf of Bloomberg News surveyed 5,023 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin to assess the public’s biggest priorities ahead of the election.

Across the seven swing states, most voters listed the economy as their most important issue—and among economic-minded voters, Biden’s policies were met with 65 percent disapproval. Only 14 percent of respondents gave Biden’s economic agenda, referred to as “Bidenomics” by White House representatives, a favorable rating. Overall, only 26 percent of voters considered Bidenomics to have a positive effect on the country, with 49 percent considering it a net negative.

At the same time, 51 percent of these swing state voters agreed that the country was better off under former President Trump. This sentiment gave the Republican frontrunner a significant four-point advantage across all seven states, well outside the poll’s margin of error.

As the survey states, President Joe Biden is trailing former President Donald Trump by 4 percentage points on a ballot including Biden, Trump, a Libertarian candidate, a Green Party candidate, and a No Labels candidate. In a head-to-head matchup between Trump and Biden, Trump maintains that same lead.

Biden’s performance was even weaker among Independents, who gave Trump a 10-point lead on a ballot that included third-party candidates.

Broken down by state, Trump leads Biden in Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Biden leads in Nevada, and the results are tied in Michigan.

The results of this poll are particularly concerning for Biden given that, with the exception of North Carolina, he won all these states during the 2020 election.

The key to Trump’s polling success seems to lie in earning the base’s economic trust. Swing state voters simply do not believe that Bidenomics is leading the country in the right direction, despite the popularity of efforts to reduce healthcare and childcare costs.

The poll also revealed that Trump is gaining popularity with union workers (though they still prefer Biden by 13 points) and retains a lead on foreign policy.
