President-elect Donald Trump visited the White House on Wednesday for a meeting with outgoing President Joe Biden, marking a historic moment as they prepare for a transition of power. Biden welcomed Trump warmly, emphasizing the importance of a smooth handover, while both leaders shared light-hearted moments in front of a roaring fireplace in the Oval Office.
“Well, Mr. President-elect, and former President, Donald, congratulations,” Biden said as he sat with his predecessor-turned-successor, emphasizing that he is “looking forward to … a smooth transition.”

Trump expressed gratitude for Biden’s efforts, acknowledging the challenges of politics but noting that this transition has largely been a pleasant one.
“Politics is tough, and in many cases, it’s not a very nice world. But it is a nice world today, and I appreciate it very much,” Trump said. “A transition that’s so smooth, it’ll be as smooth as it can get.”

The meeting was notably different from Trump’s last departure from the White House, as he returned without the usual pageantry, continuing to a more subdued yet cordial atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Trump’s motorcade arrived amidst media buzz, hinting at the return of his contentious political presence. The meeting also included discussions about party dynamics, with Trump humorously suggesting he might consider a third term under certain conditions.
Despite Trump and Biden’s polite interaction, former First Lady Melania Trump declined an invitation for a traditional teatime meeting with First Lady Jill Biden, with sources citing the 2022 FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago as her reason for refusing.
