So just how much are Apple TV+ customers really enjoying the streaming service?

The company is about to find out as a swath of promotional offers is ending soon.

The standalone price for Apple TV+ is $4.99 per month, but it’s been tied to many deals that allow consumers free access. Being part of a promotional bundle in September 2019, the service came along with the purchase of any Apple product — an iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Watch.

Those who signed up received a year of Apple TV+ for free, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic that was extended twice.

Most current Apple TV+ subscribers are on a promo deal, but in July those first subscribers will see their deal run out and will start seeing automatic billing for the service.

Will they be satisfied and pay the five bucks, or will they cancel?

As of next week, the “one-year-free” Apple TV+ offer (when purchasing an Apple product) becomes three months, and it’s for new customers only.

The content is largely seen as high quality but lacking in depth. The relatively small library presents a challenge for Apple as it chases more established competitors.

“Apple’s not in a position of strength here,” Moffett Nathanson’s Michael Nathanson said via CNBC. “Although they have some excellent shows, they lack the scale of new releases, tentpole titles and a deep library to really create a large profitable business at this point.”

Among the more recognizable titles already released are the first seasons of “Ted Lasso” and “The Morning Show,” the latter starring Jennifer Aniston.

A promotional email trumpeted the premiere later this year of a comedy starring Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd called “The Shrink Next Door” and “Foundation,” a science-fiction series based on books by Issac Asimov.
