Another day, another story about atrocities or just flat-out disgusting behavior by Russian troops as they continue their onslaught on Ukraine. Say this about the Russian military, if reports about them are accurate, they are not what you would describe as an “elite and modern fighting force.”

In many cases, “blundering idiots” seems more apt, especially after hearing details of what they tried to do in the Ukrainian city of Melitopol.

A group of Russian troops occupying that city stole almost $5 million worth of tractors and farm equipment from a John Deere dealership. According to a CNN story, the brainiacs then decided to ship a number of the vehicles to Chechnya, 700 miles away.

Once they got there, they realized “nothing runs like a Deere,” and in this case, the tractors and combines didn’t run at all because a remote-locking system was activated, which meant the criminals couldn’t even start the machinery, let alone use it.

Here’s a quote from the CNN report.

“When the invaders drove the stolen harvesters to Chechnya, they realized that they could not even turn them on because the harvesters were locked remotely.”

The Russians stole two compound harvesters that carry a price tag of $300,000 each! They took 27 tractors, corn planters, and other vehicles.

According to reports, the Russian soldiers are too lazy to sell the machinery for parts, so it is all sitting on a farm in Russia.

Since early March, the Russian thieves have occupied Melitopol, and they have reportedly looted gold artifacts out of a museum and stolen thousands of tons of grain from the area.
