A recent survey conducted by Challenger, Gray, and Christmas reveals 57% of U.S. companies are holding holiday parties this year. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, most employers are deciding to go big for the event. Whether you’ve been working at your job for a few months or several years or working to earn a new position, now is the time to show some holiday cheer.

Here’s how you make attending the office party count while focusing on your ultimate goal of becoming CEO.

The first rule is do not turn down invites to holiday parties. You never know who you are going to meet. The goal is to leave a lasting impression on contacts. The more connections you make, the better.

Second, you should perfect your introduction before going to the party. Maybe a potential client or VP of your department has invited you to their holiday party this year. Of course, you’re going but remember how you introduce yourself to the other guests is also your best sales pitch. This leads me to the following rule. While it should be a good intro, make sure how you introduce yourself is natural and conversational.
A few other rules to follow, remember to do only some of the talking. Listen as well. You never know what valuable information you will walk away with.
