The fallout from the incident Saturday when a group of Michigan State football players brutally attacked University of Michigan players in the stadium tunnel has only just begun.

The Michigan State team suspended Tank Brown, Chary Crump, Angelo Goose, Zion Young, Malcolm Jones, Justin White, Jacoby Windmon, and Brandon Wright, but not being able to play for the Spartans might be the least of the problems for them.

One of the players who was a victim of the violent and shocking unprovoked attack is filing criminal charges against those responsible.  Gemon Green is a starting defensive back, and the video shows a Michigan State player using his helmet as a weapon as he strikes Green in the head and neck.

Multiple camera shots and several angles of the attack show how sick it was.

Other Michigan State players were seen hitting and throwing a round a different Michigan player.

Green has a lawyer named Tom Mars, who has put the wheels in motion on criminal charges.

“There has to be severe consequences for this kind of misconduct. Not only does Gemon Green deserve to be compensated for his injuries. Severe consequences in this case will deter others who might think they can get away with brutally beating an opposing player and only get a slap on the wrist. I’ve got news for the MSU players who did this to Gemon. They are going to feel the full wrath of the law.”

The two teams are rivals, and as per usual, Michigan beat up the Spartans legally on the field, winning the game convincingly 29-7. The video is jarring. It’s incredible that this could happen at a big-time Division 1 football game played in front of 105,000 fans.

Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh is still frazzled by what occurred to his players.

“What happened in the tunnel was egregious,” Harbaugh said. “Sickening to watch the videos, the ones that are on social media right now, and also the ABC tunnel cam that’s at a higher elevation that shows much more of what took place. As I said, those are sickening to watch.”
