Andre Young, more commonly known as Dr. Dre, is lucky to be alive after being admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Tuesday with a reported brain aneurysm. According to various reports, Dre had been in the intensive care unit at one point.
The 55-year-old music mogul appears to now be on the mend, releasing a statement Tuesday, saying, “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”
The incident sent a number of Dre’s fellow rappers and former members of N.W.A to send their good wishes. Snoop Dogg tweeted, “GET WELL DR DRE WE NEED U CUZ.” Ice Cube sent well wishes, tweeting, “Send your love and prayers to the homie Dr. Dre” Missy Elliot also sent her best, saying, “Prayers up for Dr. Dre and his family for healing & strength over his mind & body.”
ADre is in the midst of an ugly divorce battle with his wife of 24 years, Nicole Young. Recent reports have Young seeking $2 million a month in spousal support and $5 million In lawyer’s fees. Nicole has named three women she believes are mistresses of Dre as claims of domestic violence and infidelity have become central to the divorce battle. Young claims their prenuptial agreement should be considered null and void, as she claims she was pressured into signing the document.
