If being an A-list celebrity wasn’t a good enough way to get through life, the influx of spirit and liquor brands owned by big name stars in sports and entertainment has made it sound even more appealing.

Forget about tentpole movie franchises.  Those take actual work on set.  You have to memorize lines, and maybe even lose 30 pounds to get ready for a role.

The easier way to riches is slap a unique name on a bottle of booze and watch the millions (or billions) roll in.

Why get your face smashed in for $10 million when you can sell your Irish Whiskey line for $600 million?  That’s what Conor McGregor learned this week, and he’s just the latest in a long line of celebs who are cashing in on cocktail mixers.

Here’s 6 of the best…

  1. Casamigos Tequila

George Clooney was one of the first to hop on board the gravy train of celebrity branded booze.

He, along with good friends Randy Gerber and Mike Medlman came up with the idea when they were hanging out in their villas they had next to each other in Cabo.

They sold to Diageo for a reported $1 billion.

2.  Aviator Gin

Give Ryan Reynolds credit for being different.  You don’t think of gin when celebrity cocktails comes to mind, but he was smart enough to buy a major stake in the company in 2018.

Did it pay off?  Yeah, to the tune a reported $610 million, with an initial payment of $335 million, and the balance coming in a 10-year period based on sales.  Diageo was the buyer here as well.

3.  Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey

Conor McGregor has a world-wide fan base from being a UFC star, and luckily for him, most of his fans like to drink.  A lot!

He sold for $600 million on April 28.  It’s gonna be hard to jump in the Octagon again knowing he didn’t have to sweat, let alone get a broken nose to make over half a billion.

4.  Ciroc Snap Frost Grape Vodka

Finally, someone in the music industry cashing in.  Diddy, P. Diddy, Sean Combs, whatever his name is at a given time is a brilliant businessman, evidenced by his net worth of $800 million. Much of courtesy of his nine-figure deal with Diageo.

5.  D’Usse V.S.O.P Cognac

Not to be outdone, a real billionaire stepped into the spirits game a long, long time ago and has been printing money ever since. Jay-Z partnered with Bacardi way back in 2012 on his cognac, which has received rave reviews ever since they sold their first bottle.

6.  Cincoro Blanco

The highest-priced celebrity spirit comes courtesy of the greatest NBA player of all time, and some of his buddy’s.

Michael Jordan, along with Jeanie Buss, Wes Edens, Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck launched Cincoro Blanco in 2019.

This is a very high-end tequila, perfect to drink celebrating an NBA championship, and costs about $70 per bottle.
