Hey, LeBron James, you and your Los Angeles Lakers teammates just won the NBA championship. What are you going to do next? Go to Disney World? Oh, wait, you just came from there.

How about a hometown parade? It appears that idea is also being shelved, at least for the time being. The Lakers won their 17th NBA championship on Sunday night in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and company made easy work of Jimmy Butler’s squad in the clinching game.

Now that the NBA bubble has burst, it’s only natural for Laker Nation to celebrate their latest franchise title in style, right? They should be good at it by now. However, there’s this problem of a global pandemic. State and county health officials have banned large gatherings, which means a hard pass on a parade.

There were rumors that Los Angeles city officials were looking into the possibility of some sort of virtual parade. But even a town with a reputation for being fake decided it would rather have the real thing. Another idea being kicked around was a “car party,” where a limited number of vehicles would be allowed to pull up to a location to cheer on the champs, but that idea also seems to have gotten jammed up.

For now, Laker fans looking to celebrate will have to use a common LA phrase and just “put a pin in it” while they wait for city officials to “circle back.” In other words, LA should really do a parade sometime. Have your people call mine.
