Britney Spears was dealt a defeat in her battle to remove her father from acting as conservator of her $60 million estate.

“The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,” according to court documents obtained by Fox News.

Spears’ lawyer, Sam Ingham, had asked the court to replace Jamie Spears with the Bessemer Trust.

“I shouldn’t be in a conservatorship if I can work and provide money and work for myself and pay other people,” Spears told Judge Brenda Penny last week. “It makes no sense.”

Jamie Spears has been in control of Britney’s holdings for 13 years. He had a health issue and temporarily transferred power to Britney’s care manager, Jodi Montgomery, in 2019.

Among Britney’s grievances are accusations that her conservators did not allow her to remove a contraceptive device “because they don’t want me to have children – any more children.”

But a Cosmopolitan story, which also says the situation is further muddled by an apparent battle between Britney’s father and Montgomery, is independent of the family situation.

“Given that she is a licensed private professional fiduciary, Montgomery is bound by law to follow a Code of Ethics, unlike family members who act as conservators,” Cosmo wrote. “The decision, according to the BBC, is not based on Britney’s recent request — she needs to file a formal petition to terminate the arrangement first — but rather the denial is in relation to a request Britney made in November for the private wealth management firm the Bessemer Trust to be appointed as her ‘sole conservator.’

“The court has now also heard a denial from both parties that Britney has been prevented from marrying her partner, Sam Asghari, and having a child with him.”
