Brad Pitt has lived a pretty charmed life. He’s a great actor, an Oscar winner, and long-considered one of the best-looking dudes on the planet. 

It’s not often he has to admit being duped and humiliated, but it happened, and GQ has the details. 

Pitt told them about how he spent an entire year on a “foolish” dig for a buried treasure, allegedly underneath is a 1,000-acre estate in Provence, France called Chateau Miraval. 

Pitt was under the impression that the treasure was worth $100 million. Again, we are talking about one of the most successful and accomplished performers of all time. Apparently, he could not tell that the people duping him were acting. 

“I got obsessed. Like for a year, this was all I could think about, just the excitement of it all. Maybe it has something to do with where I grew up because in the Ozark Mountains, there were always stories of hidden caches of gold.”

Pitt went so far as to buy expensive radar equipment to scour his property for the treasure that didn’t exist. No gold anywhere. Pitt later realized that the dude who led him to believe there were nine figures of buried treasure on his property was just seeking investments in his radar company. 

Ultimately, it turned out to be “pretty foolish in the end,” according to the movie star.
