Todd McFarlane, creator of the “Spawn Coming” comic book series, has revealed his tribute to “Black Panther” movie star Chadwick Boseman, who died in August following a 4-year battle with colon cancer. McFarlane posted the “Spawn” tribute cover on social media, which he drew for its 311th issue.

McFarlane posted this on his Facebook page, “Given the limited amount of minority characters in the comic industry today that are considered major superheroes, I thought it appropriate for one of those well-known heroes (Spawn) to pay tribute to a man who made a lasting impact on helping shape such a strong superhero of color. Chadwick Boseman is a person who honed his skills and then made a career using them. Then he fought a fight against his own body that showed the true spirit of this man. We should all admire the traits Chadwick shared with us. And the inspiration he gave to millions of children around the globe who got to see a strong, meaningful and proud hero that looked like themselves.”

Boseman was recently laid to rest near his hometown of Anderson, South Carolina. “Spawn’s” No. 311 tribute comic, which features Boseman in the Spawn costume doing the iconic “Wakanda forever” pose, can be ordered through comic book shops now.

Based on the popularity and track record of both McFarlane and Boseman, the series should be a huge hit. McFarlane has built an empire with a net worth near $300 million, and Boseman’s movies have averaged more than $750 million in worldwide box office sales.
