You know what happens when you are the boss of the most valuable company in the history of Planet Earth, and you have a great year of business?  You get paid!

Tim Cook, Apple’s strong and steady hand that led the company as CEO for the past decade, was handsomely rewarded for the tremendous fiscal year Apple had.

His pay disclosure for 2021 was made public, and his compensation mirrored the overall success of Apple over the past 12 months.

Here’s the total number that Cook received; $98.73 million.

As you can see in the breakdown of his pay, the guy earned every penny of it. His salary was just $3 million.   Less than a third of what a crappy MLB shortstop or lousy backup quarterback in the NFL makes.

He took home $12 million in a bonus for Apple nailing financial and environmental sustainability goals.

Another $1.39 million came in other forms of compensation, such as the $700K in personal air travel, $630K in security expenses, and $23K in vacation cash out.

What about the balance?  As you probably guessed, $82.35 million came from stock awards.

Here’s part of the wording from the SEC filing Apple made regarding Cook’s pay.

“It’s been a remarkable decade for Apple, and in 2021 Mr. Cook was granted an equity award for the first time since he was promoted to CEO in August 2011.”
