Anti-Vax AND “Pro-Russia?” Djokovic is really asking for it!

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic was recently asked whether he would get vaccinated to be able to play at the US Open.

Novak Djokovic holds the record of most hardcourt Majors and Masters titles. Djokovic has won 7 titles on grass courts, including six Wimbledon titles.

Novak Djokovic refuses to get the vaccine, even if it means he wont be able to compete at the US Open in (Flushing) Queens, NY.

“You said there’s nothing you can do at this point, but you do still have time to get vaccinated before New York to make it in time for the us deadlines if you want to play that tournament. Is that something you’ve completely closed your mind to as an option going forward?” asked a reporter.

Djokovic replied bluntly, “Yes.”

Djokovic on his Rankings Being Impacted and Russian Athletes

“I don’t want to say the ranking points are not important for me. Of course they are, but not as they were up to recently. I’m not really chasing the ranking as much as I have until I was breaking record for longest weeks and number one. And then after that, it just wasn’t as important in terms of priority.”

Djokovic also said that it’s not fair to ban Russian and Belarusian tennis players to compete, because they are professional athletes who haven’t contributed to anything that is happening with the war in the Ukraine.
