Former President George W. Bush has long been out of office, but lately, he’s been a trending topic. The reason for his sudden popularity in the media came after the U.S. government quietly released a 31-page “memorandum for the record, ” revealing everything the former president knew about a possible attack on U.S. soil before the 9/11 attack. Now we’re not going to be able to go through every document in this article, but significant points will leave you to decide if Bush dropped the ball. Could he have stopped one of the most historic terrorist attacks from happening on American soil?

The released documents are from April 29th, 2004. This is the date former president Bush hosted a meeting inside the Oval Office. During the meeting, the 9/11 Commission could ask Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney any questions about the 9/11 attacks.

In that meeting, the 9/11 Commission asked several questions about multiple documented warnings of a possible attack by Al Qaeda. According to the documents, Bush wanted daily briefings of attacks. It appears Bush passed much of the blame for not reacting to a significant threat that showed bin Laden had serious intent to attack America to his CIA director, George Tenet. Bush said he asked for the full report but said he never received it. The documents also reveal the confusion that day about orders to shoot down any non-responsive aircraft.
