Our “Higher Education” Systems Need a MAJOR Re-Vamp

College is useful for many people due to the fact that most employers and large corporations require a college degree.

Whether or not people really learn anything in college is a largely debated topic.

If corporations did not require a college degree, the vast majority of people would likely not attend college and maybe pursue different mediums to further their skillsets and level of experience in the fields which interest them.

Taking it one step further, many college-educated individuals feel that they do not learn much in college.

Now, with college being the highest it’s ever been in history, many people are debating whether the cost of college exceeds the value of the degree they will receive.

Many people go into debt for college and don’t pay it off for decades after they graduate.

Most Americans struggle to save and manage their finances. In fact, 45% of Americans have nothing in their savings.

5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Go To College:

College is useful for many people and this decision depend entirely on one’s goals and aspirations, however, there are also many reasons one should consider NOT attending pricey university.

1. You Will Go Into Debt

If you have to go into tremendous debt to earn your degree, you should strongly consider whether this is the best option for your future.

How long will it take you to re-pay your student loans? Once you graduate, will you be able to afford housing, food, gas, insurance, car payments, and everything in between that costs just to live? On top of that, you will now be faced with monthly payments towards paying off your loans.

Calculate how long it will take you to re-pay your loans with the estimated income you hope to earn post graduation.

Another important factor about college debt is that it’s unforgivable.

No matter how long a borrower goes without paying a federal student loan, it will never go away.

Failure to pay any debt will result in some type of collection effort by the creditor. The type of debt will determine the type of collection effort.

Because there is usually collateral attached to a secured loan, the remedy for failing to pay is usually repossession or foreclosure.

If another guarantor was used for the secured loan, that person will be pursued next for payment.

2. You Won’t Use Your Degree

Don’t just go to college just because everyone else is and society has programmed us to believe “it’s important.”

Even if your teachers, guidance counselors, parents, and pastors are recommending you attend, consider your own needs before taking their advice.

If you aspire to be an esthetician, a chef, a carpenter, or someone who doesn’t sit in an office, college really might not be the best option for you.

Do what’s best for you and what speaks to your heart and soul.

3. You Likely Won’t Graduate

The statistics are not encouraging.

College dropout rates average at 40% for undergraduate students.

Only 41% of college students graduate in 4 years or less.

12% complete college at a different institution.

College dropout rates are 20% higher for male students in comparison to female students.

Public universities have a higher than average dropout rate of 50%.

5. You Will Likely Gain Weight

70% of Students Gain Weight During College

The “Freshman 15” is REAL!

College is the worst environment possible for the health-conscious.

Students are confined within a tiny room and have limited access to a kitchen, fresh ingredients, and grocery stores.

The environment in itself is enticing for students to snack and choose unhealthy options.

As for the cafeteria food? Don’t even get me started! It’s criminal that schools are serving such horrible food to their students. The foods we consume impact our bodies and minds, yet colleges show no efforts to improve their food offerings.

Oftentimes, you will find that college campuses are perfectly situated in areas close to fast-food chains.

With minimal kitchen access, how are students supposed to eat healthy? It’s no wonder 70% of college students gain weight.
