Talk about overachievers.
Did this kid sulk and waste hours during the pandemic on video games and social media nonsense? Not even close.
Mike Wimmer, a 12-year-old in North Carolina, embraced the scholastic grind and is now set to graduate high school … and college next month.
The little genius finished up two years of high school and a two-year associate’s degree over the past 12 months and is set to graduate from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College on May 21, and from Concord Academy High on May 28.
Oh, and he’s the high school valedictorian.
In a CNN story, he said his GPA at the junior college is 4.0; his high school GPA is a stellar 5.45 (wasn’t a 4.0 considered perfect?).
He has some big-time goals, as one might expect, but he hasn’t lost the social connection among his older schoolmates.
According to CNN, he was nominated to Homecoming Court last year.
As for the career path? Wimmer told CNN that he’s “the math and science guy” and he’s targeting robotics and other upper-level tech.
His business startup, Reflect Social, “combines popular social media platforms with Internet of Things (IoT) devices, providing a new dynamic social experience,” according to its website.
On top of all those accomplished, Wimmer just wants to help the rest of us.
“My entrepreneurial goal is to build technology that enables people to live better lives,” he said.
Mom is proud.
“If one door’s locked, he’ll find out another way around to figure out how to accomplish his goals,” Melissa Wimmer told CNN.
He’s considering jobs as well as more schooling, but he’s still living his best life.
“A lot of people think I’ve given up my childhood or somehow lost it,” Wimmer told CNN, “and I say to them that I’m having the time of my life.”
