1 in 6 Adults Feel Stressed When They Wake Up

We all deal with stress… Some better than others, but we all have our own forms of coping with daily stresses.

Some pray, others do yoga, meditate, or exercise. Some turn to food, drugs, alcohol, and other harmful habits.

Dealing with stress is certainly not easy, and sometimes, it can feel as though the world is testing your limits.

On a scale of 1-10, where would you place your ability to handle stress?

The majority of people wake up stressed and take an average of 33 minutes before finally “feeling human,” according to a new survey.

Participants in the survey agreed that brushing their teeth, eating breakfast, and drinking coffee is an absolute “must do” within the first 60 minutes.

Taking a shower,  watching the news, and making the bed are other things people do first thing in the morning to get ready for their day. The study of 2,000 British adults, conducted by OnePoll, finds one in six feel stressed the moment they wake up.

66% of those who set a timer to wake up to, 51% deliberately use an “aggressively loud” tone to start the day. And 66 percent admit they are so tired in the morning, they sleep straight through their alarms at least twice a week!

The study also revealed that 39% of adults feel exhausted when they first get up, with 30% admitting they feel like they never want to get out of bed.

More than half (54%) truly want to function better in the mornings. Interestingly, 32% of respondents claim they can train their bodies to require less sleep than the recommended hours required. The study also found that 69% experience a plunge in energy around 3 p.m. in the afternoon.

Truth be told, sleep is extremely important for the bod and mind to function optimally. If people feel tired throughout the day, that’s a problem. It’s most likely indicating that they have some sort of chronic illness that they may not be aware of yet. Our diets are extremely important. The foods we eat have the power to make us feel healthy and strong and alert or extremely lethargic and weak. Considering the fact that most people don’t receive proper nutrition because of all the processed foods they consume, it could be that they aren’t getting all the vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids their bodies need to function.

It could also be that they have allergies to certain foods which causes the body to feel tired.

It could also be as simple as getting more sleep or feeling exhausted from life in itself. A full-time job, children, and other responsibilities could be taking a toll on people.

It’s so important to always take time for yourself and put in that self-care, whatever that might look like for you.

Take a vacation, enjoy a good book, or change your job if it’s truly that bad.

Life is what we make it.
